Our Leadership Team
Fr. Charles Rochas
I am a priest of the Emmanuel Community for the Archdiocese of Lyons, France. Prior to my ordination in 2006, I received a Licence in Philosophy and Licence in History at the Sorbonne University (Paris). I served as a priest in a parish in Lyon for 6 years and then as a chaplain at the ESM in Rome for one year before becoming the Director there for 3 years. I recently completed a Doctorare in Theology at the Angelicum (Rome). I am so excited to be the Director of the ESM here in New York launched in 2017.
Fr. Paul Glennon
I grew up in Ireland and received an BEng (Hons) Degree in Mechanical Engineer, working 10 years in various fields. During this period I had a strong spiritual experience that led me to do ESM Rome. This was a transformative experience that included the call to priesthood. I was ordained for the Dublin diocese in 2015. After 2 years in parish I was generously allowed to take up the mission of chaplain in ESM New York. It’s a great joy to work with young people and to see God acting in so many ways during the foundation of ESM in the Bronx.
I sometimes get mistaken for a student but more often I’m called MOMS a.k.a. Manager of Missions and Services. I did ESM Rome in 2014-2015 and then worked as a youth minister in London. Now I’m super happy to be bringing some Englishness to the Bronx.
Hello! I am from Saints John and Paul in Larchmont a parishioner all my life. I took my step forward into the Emmanuel Community in February 2018. I am an Author of 3 fiction novels, run a consulting business and joined the ESM team in November 2018 at an operational level. I have the best of all worlds to do rewarding work while spreading the word of God. I am grateful to be part of the team!
Meet our 2018-19 ESM students! They snapped these profile photos at World Youth Day in Panama. We are so blessed to work with this amazing group of young people.
Marie Lea Ghysselnickx, 22
Hola, my name is ‘child of the one truth king” and my parents gave me the name of Marie-Lea. Marie from our mother Mary and Lea from my Grandmother who is in heaven. My big sister calls me ‘butterfly” (because she wants me to remember) that I need metamorphosis to renew again, and to stay like a caterpillar (all my life). Yes, that is who I am, Butterfly from Ecuador!
